Nestlé will create 100,000 employment opportunities for European youth with partners

Already 200 European companies have joined forces and joined the Alliance for YOUth project proposed by Nestlé, which seeks to solve the problem of youth unemployment. Companies brought together in this alliance promise to create more than 100,000 employment opportunities for young people from across the continent next year.

Companies that have joined the Alliance for YOUth initiative are committed to working with policy makers and the education sector to reduce the effects of the difficult economic situation, create new jobs, while young Europeans would receive more opportunities to establish themselves in the labour market.

Helps to march into the world of professionals

"Alliance for YOUth, which has already been joined by more than 200 companies from all over Europe, is the first business movement across the continent to help young people better prepare for a step in the professional world and improve their opportunities in the challenging labour market of the present," said Laurent Freixe, General Manager of Nestlé for Europe.

According to the latest study by the market research company Nielsen, 23 percent of young Europeans consider unemployment to be the biggest problem facing society in the next 5 or 10 years. About 2,000 young people between the ages of 18 and 29 from Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Spain participated in the study, which was proposed by Alliance for YOUth. Some 55 percent of those surveyed who do not have a job said that it is the governments responsible for youth unemployment who do not take sufficient measures to solve the problem. The results of the study also revealed that 40 percent of 21-24 year olds fear that the job prospects in their country will not improve in the next 12 months.

Alliance for YOUth companies are committed to creating joint and individual initiatives that would provide young people with useful work experience and the opportunity to acquire new skills. In total, it is planned to create more than 100 thousand jobs and learning opportunities.

Nestlé alone has created almost 8 000 different opportunities for young people under 30 from all over Europe in the last eight months alone.

Specialists from companies supporting alliance for YOUth initiative will also participate in special public events, during which young unemployed people will be given practical advice on the need to establish a cv interesting for potential employers or to prepare properly for job interviews.

Alliance for YOUth partners will also actively join the European Commission's European Apprenticeship Alliance and promote vocational training for young people, provide an opportunity to train and participate in traineeships across Europe.

Business partners join the initiative

Alliance for YOUth is part of Nestlé's Nestlé needs YOUth initiative. This initiative seeks to unite European companies in the fight against youth unemployment. The Alliance for YOUth programme was presented in Lisbon in June. It was then joined by 13 Portuguese companies and 14 multinational companies.

The founding documents of Alliance for YOUth were signed in Lisbon by companies such as tech giants Google, Facebook, Twitter, the consultancy Ernst & Young, the international food group Cargill, the market research company Nielsen and other well-known large companies of various business sectors.

Nestlé needs YOUth, a Nestlé needs YOUth initiative launched in Athens in November 2013, is a large-scale campaign to combat youth unemployment. It is joined by companies that understand that the unresolved problem of youth unemployment can become a painful social crisis, which would have a negative impact on both national economies and businesses.
