KitKat – the world's first candy brand that produces branded products from 100% sustainably grown cocoa

KitKat – the world's first candy brand that produces branded products from 100% sustainably grown cocoa

KitKat has become the world's first candy trademark, producing branded products from 100% approved sustainably grown cocoa.

"Nestlé is proud that KitKat has become the world's first trademark, with products made from 100% sustainably grown cocoa," said Sandra Martinez, head of Nestlé's culinary department.

"For us Nestlé employees, it is very important that we are part of a system that cares for people and the environment, without which our trademark would not be. Being socially responsible is very important, not only when it comes to Côte d'Ivoire's farmers' communities, but also in trying to ensure the quality of our products."

To underline this post, on YouTube, the popular personality Louis Cole posted four films filmed in Côte d'Ivoire explaining three directions of Nestlé Cocoa's plan: better farming, better cocoa and a better quality of life.

One film has starred world-renowned footballer Didier Drogba, revealing the new Nestlé partnership with the Didier Drogba Foundation, which provides support to vulnerable Ivorians in health and education.

To strengthen the company's influence, abundant material for social networks will be used, which is broadcast worldwide via the trademark KitKat channels "YouTube", "Twitter", "Facebook" and "Instagram".

On behalf of the Foundation, Nestlé will set up a public school in the Gagnoya region of Côte d'Ivoire, from which Mr Drogba came from.

"I am proud that my foundation is working with Nestlé. This partnership will help to continue to make positive changes in the field of Côte d'Ivoire's children's education, as well as to improve their quality of life", said Drogba.

Through its Cocoa Plan, Nestlé supports children's education, has so far helped build more than 40 schools in the country to enable more than 10 000 children and young people to learn, as well as to help prevent child labour.
