Nestlé Baltics appreciates the hard work of food workers

A few weeks ago we lived in a very different way – for example, we were able to meet friends and visit the grocery store freely. While the COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed our lives, and many families have become hostages to it at home, the whole food industry, from country to fork, is doing its job perfectly, ensuring that we have access to safe and high-quality food products. Nestlé Baltics appreciates the important work in such circumstances and says thank you to all employees involved in the food industry.

"In a quarantine situation, healthcare workers, together with food market workers, are real heroes who work on the front lines and help people stay safe and healthy. I sincerely would urge everyone to say thank you to all the food workers, such as factory workers, warehouse workers, truck drivers and retail shop workers. Without these people, everyday life and food delivery would become significantly more difficult or even impossible. The passion of these people for their work ensures the well-being of all our families," says João Uva Nunes, Ceo of Nestlé Baltics Ltd.

One example is that food truck drivers have to take a long way to deliver food from other countries. Until now, they used to stop for meals in roadside cafes. They are now closed in many European countries. Nestlé Baltics therefore assigns special food kits to long-distance drivers during this period to ensure their well-being and allow them to continue their vital work during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are a very important link in the food supply chain and ensure that food continues to reach the Baltic population.

To further highlight their gratitude to food workers, more than 40 well-known companies in the world, including Nestlé, have joined the #FoodHeroes. It aims to highlight the efforts of food and beverage companies to overcome the pandemic while maintaining a smooth supply chain. More information about the project can be found here.
